I had gum surgery on June 20, 1984. I was twenty (20) years old and had just finished my freshman year at the Univ. of Kansas. Because of the partial I wear and the gum disease I have, my upper gum needed to be cut back. I can't think of what the procedure is called. I had the surgery done at a peridontist's office.
I remember the night before my appointment that it had stormed. I was hoping that we wouldn't have to go. LOL When I got up the next morning, it was storming. My mom took me to the appointment.
Before the peridontist started the surgery, his assistant gave me a Sony Walkman to listen to during the surgery. What a help that Walkman was!!
The surgery took two hours. Once the peridontist deadened my gums, I don't remember feeling a thing. The peridontist and his assistant took a break at one point. But the experience was not bad at all.
After the procedure was done, I was told to stay off my feet. Did I listen?? NO LOL I keep telling you that I am not the perfect patient. LOL
I healed fairly rapidly from it. I don't remember if I had the stitches taken out or if they were the dissolving ones.
