I think this is the time period in which I really got involved in my medical care. My parents and PS looked to me for input. If I said "No" to something, PS worded it in such a way that I would eventually agree to it.
I had four surgeries from July 1970 to April 1971. Most of them involved building my tear ducts.
I can remember fighting with nurses and the mask. I was a typical kid, what can I say?? :-) I hated needles. I still don't like them but can tolerate them. It's so funny when people talking about be putting under with anesthesia by mask. I can't smell but I can definitely remember the awful taste of the gas. One of the advantages of not being able to smell. :-)
While I was in kindergarten, I had two surgeries - one right before Thanksgiving and one in April 1971. I still have the cards that my classmates made for me.
